Thanks Greg, I am really surprised how much digging it takes to find a comprehensive Al finish guide and Xometry did pretty good! . I just downloaded and read 'CNC Metal Finishes' too. This video is very close but leaves me wondering what advice could be added to both resources for comparative wear resistance and friction reduction (I'm suspecting anodize edges out chem film but can't find substantiation in the form of comparison). I also know PTFE can be added to finish anodizing for further friction reduction; can it be clear? is it less durable even though its more slippery? My employer is making lots of orders for chem filmed parts right now, including several tool items. I think we might need to be better informed to get the best reliability from the surface treatments.
